Fans Want To Know What Happened To Britney Spears' First Husband, Jason Alexander
Remember that time Britney Spears was married for five minutes? Okay it was more like 55 hours. On the spur of the moment in Las Vegas, the "Slave For You" singer asked childhood friend Jason Alexander to marry her. The pair, who grew up together in Kentwood, Louisiana, were both 22 at the time.
However, the marriage was annulled just 55 hours later.
"She just came out and asked me," Alexander said of the out of the blue decision. "She was like, 'Well, let's get married.' And I was like, 'Sure. You know, let's do this.'''
Alexander told ABC News in 2012 that when word got back to her mother Lynn and her managers "everyone went crazy." The pair had married and had no prenup. Britney's team were terrified about her estimated 60 million dollar fortune.
The annulment stated that the pop star "lacked understanding of her actions, to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to the marriage."
Now 16 years later, Jason Alexander has shown up outside a downtown Los Angeles court. It was where a hearing was taking place in a bid to have Britney's father Jamie replaced as her conservator.
#FreeBritney campaigners instantly recognized the ex husband of their Queen and enthusiastically thanked him for backing the campaign.
Alexander later spoke to UsWeekly, and revealed that he is still in touch - via text - with his former childhood friend/husband.
"I've got love for her, definitely,'' he told the magazine. "I'd love to be back in her life some way or another, but this conservatorship is holding that back from happening."
The Louisiana native even went as far as saying he would still like to pursue a relationship with her.
"We never were given a shot the first time around. If there's feeling still there, maybe we see where they go but that's not — you know that's on her."
A few months after Britney's annulment, she got engaged to backup dancer Kevin Federline. The two got married in October 2004.
They had two sons together - Sean Preston, 14, and Jayden James, 13.
Britney filed for divorce in November 2006, two months after the birth of their youngest child.
For the past two years, Britney has been in a relationship with fitness trainer Sam Asghari.
The 38-year-old lives with her 26-year-old beau at her mansion in Thousand Oaks, north of Los Angeles.
In her legal battle, Britney is asking a judge to allow her temporary care manager Jodi Montgomery to handle her affairs. Montgomery took over last year when her dad became ill, to continue permanently in that role.
